About Us
Family Language and Literacy was founded with the mission to provide high quality, accessible speech, language, literacy, and accent therapy services to the Greater Kansas City area. Our goal is to fill a noticeable gap in therapy services between those who may not qualify for therapy for a multitude of reasons but who still have a need for skilled speech therapy to achieve their personal goals and communicate with independence. Our desire is to provide speech-language and accent modification services in a family-centered and accessible way.
Family Centered therapy services include the client as well as the important people in their lives in order to build skills around a growing support system. This helps to change learned behaviors which contribute to overcoming deficits much faster than if the client alone participated in therapy. Family centered approaches lead to faster acquisition and more meaningful transfer of skills to other environments.
Accessible Services are vitally important in this pandemic-era modern day. We offer a hybrid of in-person and teletherapy service delivery options to ensure that life changes such as travel, inclement weather or the need to quarantine have a lessoned impact on your access to therapy.
